I care for your gardens as you wish you could, as if they were my own.
I see a yard and have a vision for how it should look. My vision for your garden comes from years of personal experience and the experience handed down from my parents. I put my personal care and attention in to every garden.
Let me introduce myself. My name is Mark D’Asto and I was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. I come from a family of nine, counting my mother and father. I am a believer, a musician, a husband, a grandfather, a nurturer, a plant lover and a hard worker.
Now what business does a city boy like me have tending to plants in the great state of Texas, you may ask. Well…all my life I have been exposed to lawn and garden care thanks to my father, who had the best vegetables and flowering plants in our entire neighborhood on the south side of Chicago. On some occasions, I would help him tend the garden and weed the flower beds and to this day, working in flower beds and gardens always reminds me of my very meticulous father.
I learned how to inspect for insects or disease. He showed me all his secret remedies for maintaining beautiful blooming roses and other flowers. Neighbors would constantly stop and ask us if they could take a clipping or two off a rose bush, or even go as far as to ask if they could borrow some of our dirt because it was so fertile and high in nutrients. (That’s when my father taught me all about composting.) I had no idea that this early education into the gardening world was just training me for this venture I have taken on called LBJ Gardens. My formal schooling was in electronics. In 1986, I obtained an Associates (AA) Degree in electronics from DeVry Institute of Chicago. I then relocated to California for the next ten years. For the first four of those years I worked in Silicon Valley, obtained two secret clearances and worked on early warning radar detection systems for F-16 fighter planes for both Varian Inc. and Litton Applied Technologies.
When the “Star Wars” era came to a close and the government started to pull their contracts, I made a decision to get into property management. I finished my next six years in California working as a “fixer” for large property management companies. As a property manager, my responsibilities were to take a distressed property and bring up the occupancy and also the bottom line, or net operating cash flow. Once that was accomplished, the companies would relocate me to another property. In 1996, I moved back to Chicago to live with my aging father and eventually look after his yard. I worked in the sales industry for some years and then also had a small neighborhood music school for a couple of years. I truly enjoy music and teaching it to others.
So, after marrying my Texas Sweetheart and relocating to Texas, I worked for the City of Marble Falls for the last five years in the Parks & Recreation Department. I was the one who was always working on Main Street, maintaining those beautiful roses and flower beds. And when the opportunity came along to start my own ornamental landscape company I didn’t hesitate to get started. I have always had an eye for how a property looked. We called it “curb appeal” I guess that is why I enjoy maintaining your beautiful gardens and making them look as great as possible. I see a yard and have a vision for how it should look. I will care for your gardens as if they were my own.
"Mark has made a tremendous difference in the
look and value of our property. Through all
the crazy Texas weather, droughts or floods,
his care and attention to the health of our
plants has saved us, almost surely, from
having to replace many plants. We love LBJ Gardens"
Mike G - Sunrise Beach, TX
Mark has maintained our landscaping for a couple of years
in a very professional and business-like manner. The property
he maintains for me is a second home. Mark is an excellent
communicator and his billing is detailed. I feel very secure
with him at my property and he lets me know when he arrives
and when he leaves. He is courteous and thoughtful and does an
excellent job with my plants and landscape beds.”
Harold Muckleroy, Fort Worth, TX
"Mark is prompt, thorough, conscientious, trustworthy and creative.
I especially like the way he sends a text picture when arrives and
several during the job. Then he leaves with one last picture and his
"out of here" message. I recommend Mark without reservation."
John M. Joseph - Attorney
""Mark's care of my garden on a regular basis has allowed me to enjoy it more than ever. I get to putts while he does the heavier work."
